Step back in time and experience the historic snus sensation that is Röda Lacket. For over 100 years, this traditional brand has been a symbol of revolutionary youth and has even survived the Swedish tobacco monopoly. But Röda Lacket's story goes back even further, to a small city in southeast Sweden where Petter Swartz founded the Swartz snus factory in 1753.
The Swartz family business flourished, and soon they were known for selling their snus packaged in metal boxes - a game-changer in the snus world. But it wasn't until almost 100 years later that Röda Lacket was registered as a brand, based on one of the seven proprietary snus recipes that had been kept secret for generations.
Today, Röda Lacket's tobacco-centered flavor is combined with hints of dried fruit, providing a unique and historic snus experience. So why not try a piece of history and indulge in the timeless taste of Röda Lacket?
Back in 1915, when the Swedish government took control of snus production and left no factory untouched, including the Swartz snus factory. Despite the setback, the family's seven secret recipes were eventually incorporated into the centralized production, but unfortunately, the monopoly swallowed up the family business. However, one recipe managed to survive the monopoly and has remained a popular choice to this day - Röda Lacket.
Interestingly, the name Röda Lacket translates to "red paint" in Swedish, which is a nod to the color of the can. This seemingly insignificant detail would prove to be a game-changer in the late 1960s. As the world was swept up in the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and anti-war protests, Röda Lacket became the go-to snus for young student activists.
Fast forward to today, and Röda Lacket is still going strong, now owned by tobacco manufacturer Swedish Match. The brand has stayed true to its roots, with only slight adaptations to the recipe made in 2006. So, if you're looking for a taste of history, grab a can of Röda Lacket and experience the same flavor that snus lovers have enjoyed for over a century, its a classic for a reason!
